The following were recognized by Superintendent Dr. Torrance Choates at November’s Sumter County School Board of Education meeting as the outstanding student, volunteer, teacher, paraprofessional custodian, and nutrition staff at Sumter County Primary School:

Sherralyn Stone – First Grade Teacher
Superhero Headquarters has selected Mrs. Sherralyn Stone, or Super Stone, to recognize this
evening in short because she embodies the qualities every parent would want in their child’s
teacher. As a First Grade teacher, she is compassionate, has high expectations, is firm and fair,
is generous, is a nurturer and a true servant leader. Which superhero am I describing, you ask?
None other than our very own Super Stone!

Juliette Furlow-Jordan – Paraprofessional
Superhero Headquarters would like to recognize Mrs. Juliette Furlow-Jordan, or Wonder
Jordan, because she is such a beautiful example of how you can spread your superpowers to
serve others and make such a difference without expecting glory. As a Kindergarten
paraprofessional, she is reflective and humble, patient and empowering. You might wonder,
just who is this mighty superhero? This is our very own Wonder Jordan!

Fred Freeman - Kindergarten Student
Superhero Headquarters is proud to announce Master Fred Freeman, or The Incredible Fred,
as our chosen Superhero to recognize this evening because we are just so proud of all of the
superpowers he has gained in his adventures on the path to graduation. He works hard,
exercising his superpower of learning; and is a great friend to any other Superhero along his
way. As a kindergarten student, he has Superhero behavior and makes his teacher, Dr. Butts,
very proud. Who is this amazing superhero of whom I speak? I’m so glad you asked! This is The
Incredible Fred Freeman!

Melisa Horsley – Volunteer
Superhero Headquarters has the joy of honoring Mrs. Melisa Horsley, or Horsley the
Magnificent, because of all the work she has done for our school. As a super parent, she has
given countless hours of her time to help us in so many ways, including volunteering at our
Book Fair, organizing the Parent Resource Room, leading the parent engagement tables at
Open House, and so much more. She is dependable, supportive, and the kind of parent we can
always count on. Which superhero did I say this is? Well, I’m happy to introduce, Horsley the
Magnificent!

Tyrone Johnson – Custodian
Superhero Headquarters has chosen to honor Mr. Tyrone Johnson, or Commander Johnson
the Guardian, this evening because he is a true Superhero. As a Super Custodian, he is always
looking for ways to make Superhero Headquarters more aesthetically appealing and as safe as
can be. He’s good at looking for problems to solve and is always willing to help in times of
need. Sounds like a Superhero to me! Well, that’s our Commander Johnson the Guardian for
you!

Takashia King – School Nutrition
Superhero Headquarters is delighted to recognize Ms. Takashia King, or TK the Terrific, this
evening because she has the humble strength and noble dependability of a powerful
Superhero. She is kind-hearted and service-oriented, always has a smile for children and
greeting for teachers, and is a great example for the other Super Cafeteria Team members to
follow. Who is this person we can look up to and learn from? A Superhero indeed, that’s TK
the Terrific!
