Students at Sumter County Primary School recently celebrated the 100th Day of School. Students dressed up as if they were 100 years old and participated in 100 day activities throughout the school day.

Pre-K students in Ms. Shyericka Thornton and Mr. Cecil Williams’ class at Sumter County Primary School learned about arctic animals and bears. The students did an experiment using ice cubes, feathers, and cotton balls to understand feathers keep penguins warm, and fur (cotton) keeps bears and other furry, arctic animals warm in the cold.

Pre-K students in Mrs. Cynthia Bittle and Ms. Laquinithia Williams' class at Sumter County Primary School learned about community helpers and different types of transportation. The students then reviewed their letters by “driving” to the fires in their firetruck and put them out using a fire extinguisher.

Pre-K students at Sumter County Primary School have been learning about transportation. They culminated their week of learning by seeing different types of vehicles. Thanks to SGTC CDL Transportation Department, Sumter County Schools Bus Department, City of Americus Trolley, friends of Ms. Taylor, and family of Ms. Zanders for participating in the event.

Kindergarten and first grade students at Sumter County Primary School were afforded the opportunity to visit the Science Dome. Mrs. Emily Strickland (SYSTC) engaged teachers and students as they entered the inflatable planetarium. All were intrigued as they viewed the day and night time skies.
