In Mrs. Chris McMichael’s virtual art room students are currently focusing on using lines and shapes to make 2D drawings that fill up space. This only requires paper and pencil; however, crayons, markers, and paint are great if students have them available. First, students are shown a piece of artwork and asked to practice fine motor skills. Most of these activities are short, fast, and use scissors. Then, they are introduced to an artist, shown some of the artist works of art, and asked to create their own version. Students start out watching a motivational video to get their ideas flowing. Then, Mrs. Chris McMichael demonstrates how to draw in a video and also has a copied step-by-step instruction sheet to follow. An online book is provided that also relates to the art project and allows them to practice reading. Students are often provided an extension activity for an assignment that may be a little more challenging. On Fridays, students are asked to fill out a google form stating which piece of art they have chosen to complete. Students send in a picture of their work on Class Dojo. This allows their artwork to be showcased on her website.
