Our hearts at Sumter County Primary School go out to those effected by the terrible natural disaster, Hurricane Harvey.  As a community who has survived our own natural disasters, it is time for us to step up and give back to those in need.  Sumter County Primary School has adopted Booker T. Washington Elementary in Port Arthur ISD. Similar to SCPS, Booker T. Washington Elementary serves primary grades PK-2. Many students and staff members have lost their homes and belongings, so we want to help carry their burden by fundraising on their behalf. We are filling our walls with STARS – “Texas, You Are Not Alone Star”.  For $1.00 students are purchasing a STAR and decorating it to add to our display wall. It is our goal to fill our school with STARS and show the staff and students at Booker T. Washington Elementary that there is a bright glimmer of hope ahead.  Also, as an added fundraiser, students were allowed to wear a hat for $1.00 Friday, September 8.
