Accelerated Readers

We are proud to announce that our class had 100% participation in the AR Party. Please continue to encourage your child to read daily so he/she reaches their goal.

We are also proud to announce that we have another student who will begin AR in January. We are encouraging other students to continue working on their sight words. Parents, please review sight words and read at least 20 minutes daily with your child. Thank you for your continued support.

Upcoming class projects

Due to an expresssed interest of the students, and to engaged parents, our class will do upcoming projects. Further details will be posted in the Projects section after the class decides on the type of project and guidelines.

Also  for Earth Day, we will be doing a recycling project, so begin collecting recyclables.

Thank you for your support.

Homework Calendar

Dear Parents:

Our Kindergarten class will receive a monthly homework calendar. Homework bridges the gap between learning at school and learning at home. It reinforces work done in class. Homework helps to establish the habits of study, concentration and self discipline. This homework should not be time consuming or frustrating to your child. The goal is to reinforce skills we are working on at school and to get your child in the habit or routine of setting aside a time for study.  This will be a great preparation for years to come.  Help your child find a special place to do his/her homework each evening.

Each day (Monday-Thursday) will have one or two assignments for the students to complete. Some assignments are written while others are activities for your child to do orally or with materials at home. Please help your child complete the work each night.

As sight words are introduced formally, the student should master reading the word instantly by sight.  We suggest making flash cards on note cards and practicing the words with drill and games. (Make it fun!) The calendar will also remind you of other important events.

Additionally, students should read or listen to an adult read at least one book every day. Please write down the books that you read with your child on the reading log.

Thank you for your help! It's going to be a great year!
